Truth is, Grishoalbrand wouldnt be as fast, nor be capable of continuing to combo off without Simian Spirit Guide to convert an excess of cards in hand to actual mana

It is great for drawing you into bigger cards and more gas but it is useless for getting you setup

Skyray gives you a big Flying threat, while Monument gives you card draw, ramp, and direct damage

For a while, I went back and forth on this card before finally realizing that it costs only five, which is reasonable for what it does (but we unfortunately cant fit into a deck led by Gandalf, Westward Voyager)
